The Rematec Theatre stage is set for reman's finest performers

Reman professionals know that Rematec 2023 is the global forum for an industry, which this year, feels as though it is on the cusp of something special. People from all over the world are making the trip to the Netherlands. This is the ideal place to discover the latest trends and business models, share best practices, and look to the future: what will remanufacturing look like in the next decade? The Rematec content program will provide the heartbeat of Rematec 2023, offering visitors free access to some provocative presentations and timely discussions, presentations and demonstrations: here are some highlights.

Rematec Theatre

The Rematec Theatre is a focal point for the Rematec 2023 experience, featuring an open audience seating area where live presentations take place. All visitors are welcome, and this is the stage where reman industry specialists share their technical knowledge and expert views on market developments in interactive workshops. It is here, too, that thought leaders and industry experts will gather to unpick trends in the political, business, and economic landscape and consider what they mean for the remanufacturing industry. The cross-sectoral discussions here will be some of the most revealing sessions of Rematec 2023, looking in particular at common goals and challenges.

Official opening ceremony

On Tuesday 27 June at 10 hrs, Rematec will officially be opened by Dr. Daniel C. F. Köhler, Chairman APRA Europe, and Nynke Lipsius, Group Director Mobility RAI Amsterdam. They will discuss the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise on enhancing product lifecycles. This will be followed by a reflection on how to achieve the sustainable goals with remanufacturing, joined by José Almeida, Market Affairs Manager at CLEPA, and Peter Bartel, Vice-Chairman of APRA. The sessions are followed by the announcement of the Remanufacturer of the Year Awards.

Circular Economy as the central pillar for remanufacturing

On Tuesday 27 June from 15.15 – 15.45 hrs, Markus Lehner, Head of Project Management at Encory GmbH, Prof. Dr. Johannes Meuer, Associate Professor for Sustainability Strategy and Operations and Director of KLU's Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains at KLU and Paula Petersen, Founding Member at Circularity e.V, will discuss Shared Reverse Supply Chain in Automotive Sector. They will share their insights into the Circular Economy as a goal; Developing a Reverse Supply Chain Alliance for Automotive Parts.

Circular supply chains and reverse logistics systems in the remanufacturing industry have a key role in advancing the principles of the circular economy. Specifically in car remanufacturing, optimizing the collection, transportation, and processing of end-of-life car parts can enhance resource efficiency, reduce waste, and retain value. This session will highlight the importance of a circular supply chain and the logistics system and will be discussed with representatives from GIZ, Encory GmbH, and Circular Economy Solutions GmbH (Wednesday 28 June from 11.00 – 12.00 hrs).

Exhibitors knowledge sessions

Additionally, exhibitors and professionals from the remanufacturing industry will be present at the Rematec Theatre and deliver company presentations. Some highlights:

BBB Industry: Tuesday 27 June from 13.30 – 14.00 hrs, Duygu Seker – BBB’s President – EMEA, will share more about ‘Sustainable Manufacturing in the Automotive Circular Economy’. BBB has over 35 years of sustainable manufacturing experience, and we believe that sustainable manufacturing plays a critical role in advancing the circular economy.

Stellantis: Thursday 29 June from 11.00 – 11.30 hrs, Alison Jones - Senior Vice President of Global Circular Economy will share the view of Stellantis on 'Remanufacturing - our industrial and innovative scale up'. Remanufacturing is a core pillar of the Stellantis Circular Economy strategy (SUSTAINera) to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2038.

There will be also sessions given by Rajiv Ramchandra – Founder of Re:CREATe India, Mino Yamamoto - Valeo Group Circular Economy Director and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Carsten Bücker - owner and CEO of CBC Group.

Chinese Remanufacturing Forum

A Sino Government-State Talk will be held on Wednesday 28 June from 09.30 – 12.00 hrs organised by Rematec, CPRA, Sinomachint, NDRC, and European Council Circular Economy Department. The forum will dive into the theme of Circular Economy. On the show floor, there will be a Chinese pavilion where exhibitors from China display their remanufacturing solutions and innovations.

Rematec Battery Corner

New this edition we present the Rematec Battery Corner, organised with Fraunhofer Research Institute, Bayreuth University, and sponsored by Stellantis. The main focus lies in recycling batteries, which means extending the life of the product or component. Jan Koller, Group Manager at Fraunhofer IPA, and Gregor Ohnemüller, Scientific assistant at Bayreuth University, will give daily a presentation and demonstration about this process and shares everything you need to know showing the housing of a battery and an electric vehicle provided by Stellantis (a Peugeot e-208).
