Mercedes-Benz Parts Manufacturing & Services (MBPM) is to build its first remanufacturing site outside of Europe. The German company has chosen the Shanghai Lingang area of China and has broken ground on the new factory, which the company says will be equipped with state-of-the-art production lines to reman engines and transmissions. Production is scheduled to begin in a year’s time, at the end of 2018. MBPM plans to further expand its production portfolio, and has pledged to develop a local remanufacturing supplier base. The move aims to fulfil the needs of the burgeoning Chinese market.
