The Remanufacturer of the Year (RotY) Awards represent everything that is best about the reman industry. Adam Hill, chairman of the RotY judging panel, urges readers to put themselves forward

Imagine pitting yourself against the best in the business, showing just how well you or your company goes about the day-to-day activities of remanufacturing. Perhaps you use an innovative process which aids efficiency and lowers cost – or maybe your organisation has refined traditional ways of working to achieve better returns. You could even be the catalyst for helping those outside the industry understand the benefits which reman can bring, which in turn pays dividends for all of your colleagues and competitors by raising the profile of remanufacturing.

If this sounds like you, then ReMaTec’s Remanufacturer of the Year (RotY) Awards are exactly what you are looking for. And we, in turn, are looking for you. The RotY Awards are the most prestigious honours in remanufacturing – there is none higher - and the list of people who have won them is a remarkable roll-call of the industry’s talent. From the scheme’s inception in 2005 up until 2016, the Remanufacturer of the Year was given to one person or business that had served automotive remanufacturing with particular distinction.

In 2017, in an unprecedented move, the RotY Award was split between two people for their work on international lobbying for the remanufacturing industry: Wabco’s Salvador Munoz Zarate (who sadly passed away earlier this year) and Peter Bartel of C-Eco.

In 2018 came the most radical change in RotY’s history: rather than presenting a single award, the decision was taken to split the award into three, to open up RotY to people who might previously have thought it was out of their reach, and to reward companies and people demonstrating a range of skills (see What the jury said about last year’s winners).

Now in its 15th year, the RotY scheme has the potential to reach an even wider audience as the circular economy – of which reman is a key part – gains mainstream recognition. At a time when green issues, conservation of resources, recycling and environmental responsibility are at the forefront of public concerns, the RotY 2019 Awards will highlight the huge commercial and environmental benefits of remanufacturing.

By putting your company forward for the RotY 2019 Awards, you will be at the spearhead of a movement which will help to define the way we live and work for generations to come. Not bad, eh? The three RotY trophies for this year will be awarded on 23 June during the opening ceremony of ReMaTec 2019 in Amsterdam.

You can find out everything you need to know about the ReMaTec Remanufacturer of the Year 2019 Awards and an online entry form at www.rematec.com/forms/roty So what are you waiting for? If you are not entering yourself, you can always nominate your peers, suppliers or clients. Go online and fill in the forms now. You have until 10 May 2019 to do so. Good luck!
